The Board of Food Marketing in Finland, which will evaluate the marketing of foodstuff, started operations at the beginning of 2023. The Board is independent and impartial and it operates in connection with the Finland Chamber of Commerce. It will evaluate the appropriateness of marketing on a case-by-case basis, based on requests for statements.
A commitment made by the Finnish food industry, grocery retail trade, foodservice wholesale trade and packaging sector as well as three ministeries reduced the environmental impacts of food production, distribution and consumption in 2019 - 2021.
The commitment was renewd for years 2022 - 2026 and it now includes also hospitality industry in Finland. The three ministeris involved are Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment, Ministry of the Environment and Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.
The nationally prepared low-carbon roadmaps are based on Finland's carbon neutrality target by 2035. The low-carbon roadmap for the Finnish food and drink industry was completed in August 2020.
The Finnish Food and Drink Industries' Federation is aiming for carbon neutrality in cooperation with companies in the industry. The target is to reduce the sector's greenhouse gas emissions by 75 per cent relative to net sales by 2023. The food industry is firmly committed to advancing the entire food supply chain's efforts to reach carbon neutrality. Read more about the low-carbon roadmap.
The strategy is crystallised to the following vision: "Innovative and responsible Nordic food production enables a competitive food industry and consumer well-being, both in Finland and globally".

Finnish Food and Drink Industries' Federation has approximately 260 member companies and cooperation agreement with the Finnish Bakery Federation and the Finnish Meat trade Association. The activities of companies within the spheres of the ETL cover the majority of food and drink industry production in Finland.
